Samsung's Galaxy III is not the "lawyer's phone"
Ron Amadeu wrote about Samsung’s new flagship phone pointing out that it was totally designed to avoid lawsuits from Apple. He uses several arguments and places them side to side to the Apple’s lawsuit claims. Read it here The problem? It’s really easy to notice that while good, some of the arguments are really flawed, and I will show you why I believe Samsung actually thinks...

Arstechnica talks about Bastheda is adding voice to Skyrim. You will be able to “shout” at your tv all those magic words. If it’s possible to actually change to another shout without going over the menus, it will be amazing.  More in the video below:

Nokia's hell has only started.
I hate predictions but I need to write my thoughts down to review in the future: Next year, CEO is out, Android is in.  Crazy, I know.

This shouldn’t be a surprise. It’s clear that at least the big ones want ways to differentiate themselves. Nobody wants to see the what happened to the PC industry again.

A lot of anti-MS folks are taking the following bandwagon: “Microsoft’s lack of focus will be the doom of win8”  I don’t have a problem with the dual user interface approach. Why? Do I have a interaction designer insight from the future that allows me to think that? No. There’s simply no way a company that has the level of success that MS has with Windows would do...

This is becoming kind a joke. You don’t know what to do to beat the competition in the tablet space. First you did a smaller, flash enabled tablet. Failed. Then You did a lighter, thinner, higher resolution tablet and… it was a flop. Now you release 3 new tablets, 8.9” 7” and 5”? Is this what you think will make the difference? No Samsung. This will not help. While a...

Android phone sells like hot cake in Kenya. Why... →
Why people are so surprised. The user base there demands more from mobile than any other place. We’ve known for ages that Africans are avid mobile internet users - BBC’s site have been showing that since 2006! (here).  No wonder why a cheap phone with a fully capable browser like Android is being so well received. This was Nokia biggest flaw: to think Android was only going to be a...

The HP Touchpad... such a disappointment
I’ve been holding to write this, wishing a software update shows up in the screen allowing me to at least respect the device. But it didn’t show up and I still sad about this device. *holding up until I use the update that is being released this week ;)

Windows 8 Preview
In a sort of predictable move (investors pressure?) Microsoft released some videos of the upcoming Windows 8. If you haven’t seen it yet… This shows that, while Microsoft was impressively original when creating the Windows Phone (Originally the Zune HD GUI) it is indeed trying to catch up with Apple in the bigger picture, making sure the products are really connected, not only in...

The whole Nokia+Microsoft deal, IMHO:
Was needed. Deeply. There are plenty of places where you can read the reasons. If you don’t believe it, fine. But please bare in mind: This is not a CEO only decision If they picked up Windows technology, Meego wasn’t ready for prime show Nokia distributed way of working is indeed too complex for big software endeavors  Again if you don’t believe one of this, and think...

Radical, chaotic, fast but amazingly exciting...
After almost 8 years (and 3 different cities) in the same company, I started feeling it was time for a change. The only issue with that is that I am known for being a little bit “intensive”. Now I’m not only changing my job. I am changing also: city, country, marital status and increasing the family.  That’s me, piling up several changes in less than 2 months in a...

Motorola's Revenge... or CES11 Highlights
Motorola has shown quite a lineup at CES11. I was really happy to see that adopting android seems to have one positive side effect in Motorola: They now have time to focus. Focus where? Instead of fighting the cruel “do your own OS” fight, they decided to focus on the… UX. Motorola has actually a quite nice chance in it’s hand to showcase that you can indeed...

Samsung this week has shown officially it’s first tablet product to the world. We all saw pictures of it, but the only thing that helps at least understand if the product is in the acceptable  level is a couple of hands on videos: Untitled from Pedro Burgos on Vimeo. The fist 2 items I would look for in a tablet are there: It’s fast and brings more to the table than the standard...

Tablets with standard Windows7? No thanks.
Mr Ballmer talks about MS working on it’s iPad competition and the scary part is: “We’re coming,”  ”We’re coming full guns. The operating system is called Windows.” Like pointed out by Grubber here, the iPad would not have the same impact if it was an tablet with osX. The same reason made all the Windows based tablets fail all these years. Anyhow I...

Really? Who’s MS biggest contender? Apple or Google? 1 device or 1 free operating System?  I don’t believe MS would do a series of phones, so being an Apple-buster MS is not a solution. Anyhow using the Android strategy, going for multiple vendors still sounds like a better idea.  Remember de Zune. Remember de Zune.
